PGY-1
Class of 2025-2029

Alexander Costa, MD
Medical School: Rush Medical College
Hometown: Suffern, NY
Interests/hobbies: Playing guitar and jamming with friends whenever we can make it happen. I’m always up for exploring the city — especially checking out speakeasies, breweries, or any place with a good vibe. I’ve also been trying to cook more lately, mostly attempting to recreate the Italian recipes I grew up on. I’m a loyal Giants fan and big on fantasy football — mostly because it keeps Sundays interesting while the Giants are busy disappointing me.
Why Jacobi/Monte? I was drawn to Jacobi/Monte for its unmatched clinical training, high-acuity patient population, and deep-rooted mission to serve the Bronx. I wanted a program where I’d be challenged to grow, not just as a clinician but as an advocate for patients who often face the most barriers to care. On interview day, the residents came across as sharp, grounded, and genuinely proud of their work — and that’s exactly the kind of team I wanted to be a part of.
